    3. The following group of messages contains data I acquired a few weeks ago. I'm not sure how many messages the total file will take as the news group server appears to have a message size/line limit. The total file is about 25 pages. I will number each message. 2. Penny Gillard
    3. I have just recently gained some new info on my great grandfather, David PIERCE. His full name was John David PIERCE and he was born, I-don't-know-where, Ireland. There is a discrepancy with his date of birth. Family has it as March 1, 1870 or 1873 but the funeral home has it as March 3, 1875. He came over from Ireland at a young age with a family by the last name of DUNN and they arrived in Ontario (Canada). David PIERCE married Azuba Alice MOORE and his last known residence was Leeper Street in St. Catharines, Ontario. David died January 31, 1945. He was a forge laborer. If anyone can give me any additional info on this man or the DUNN family, I would be forever grateful. Penny Gillard

    1. [PIERCE-L] PEARCE, Nathan 1705-1790 and Abigail Spink's children
    2. Gordon Snead
    3. Gordon Snead wrote: It has been awhile since I have been working on my Pearce line and am still trying to validate the parentage of my 5th great grandfather Nathan Parce. From all records I have, his parents should be Ephraim Pearce, (son of Nathan Pearce and Abigail Spink), and Phebe Manton, but there is nothing to validate his parents. From what I have learned from other Parce descendants, Nathan removed the 'e' from Pearce and became Parce at the time of his marriage to Rebecca Chase. (She was Quaker and Nathan was Baptist, and one had to convert for the marriage to take place.) It is believed, to please Rebecca's family he agreed to convert, and this caused a rift and that the family apparently wrote Nathan out of their lives. I have been unable to connect Nathan to Ephraim and Phebe, but everything seems to suggest that he was his father. I have found the names of the children of Nathan Pearce and Abigail Spink and have the three brothers of Ephraim (Benoni, Nathan Jr. and William) and each of them had a son named Nathan, evidently in honor of their father. In addition, a sisiter, Pheobe Pearce, who married Charles Dyer, IV had a son named Nathan. I would find it difficult to believe that Ephraim would not name one of his sons Nathan, and so honor his father in this way. If there is anyone on the Pearce line that connects with any of the other children of Nathan and Abigail Spink Pearce I would enjoy hearing back from you. The sons of Nathan and Abigail were: Benoni Pearce m. Mehitable Walker A son Nathan born to this family Nathan Pearce, Jr. m. Elizabeth Culver A son Nathan born to this family William m. Chloe Cary and m. Lydia Birdsall, who bore a son Nathan Ephraim Pearce m. Phebe Manton Children I have listed as born to this family are: Samuel, William, Joseph Borden, Anna, Mehitable, and John Pearce, and additionally Nathan Pearce (Parce) should fit into this family. The daughters I have found are the following: Sarah Pearce m. Richard Stafford on 6/2/1745 Abigail Pearce m. Jonathan Truman on 7/7/1751 Susannah Pearce m. William Potter abt 1758 in Pawling, New York Margaret Pearce m. William Potter (unsure if this is same gentleman) Pheobe Pearce m. Charles Dyer IV children born: Nathan Dyer, Benjamin Dyer and Susannah Dyer. If anyone is descended from Sarah, Abigail, Susannah or Margaret Pearce, and has information on their children, would love to hear back from you, expecially if there is a son Nathan born to these families. With all the Nathans born to this family I would find it difficult to believe that one son would not give honor to his father and not name one of his sons after him. Thanks for anything anyone can offer to help find Nathan's parents. Holly M. Snead [email protected]

    3. Some time ago, I bought a collection of old "Genealogy Helpers" magazines. It's about a 20 year supply, from 1970 thru sometime in the 1990s. The September, 1970 issue has an index of people doing genealogy research and the names they are researching. Some of the entries have specific names, w/ birth/death data. Some have only a surname. I've included the query code, the researcher's name/addr and any pertinent info from the query. NOTE: This info is 30 years old and may not help anyone. PEARCE: B407 Edward A. Brown 2507 S. State ST. Wilson Jasper Pierce (son of Wilson Pierce and Nancy Barton). A.J. Pierce who married Mary C. Abercrombie is the son of John Calvin Pierce and Nancy Blackwell; John C. being the son of Sampson Pierce and Rachel Barnes. Archibald Pierce who married Lourica Jones is probably the son of John R. Pierce and Nancy J. Wimpy; John R. being the son of Andrew Jackson Pierce (a brother? to Sampson) and Nancy Abercrombie. C.D. Pierce (his name is Colonel Delona) who married Ona Champman is the son of A.J. Pierce and Mary C. Abercrombie (above). James Pierce who married Sallie Pitner is probably the son of Wilson Jasper Pierce and Letty Caroline Roberts; Wilson J. being the son of Wilson Pierce and Nancy Barton. N.H. Pierce (his name was Dr. Nathan Henry Pierce) who married Adah Jones was the son of Wilson Jasper Pierce and Letty Caroline Roberts; Wilson J. being the son of Wilson Pierce and Nancy Barton. The A.J. Pierce who married Mary Thomas in 1879 is a bit puzzling to me. I'm not sure who he was related to. My conjecture is that he may be the son of Andrew Jackson Pierce and Nancy Abercrombie, if their son A.J. remained in Georgia when they went to Texas in the 1860s. The rest of the names on your Lumpkin Co. list which I haven't mentioned are probably descendants of either Wilson Jasper Pierce and Letty Caroline Roberts who lived along the Etowah River NW of Dahlonega, or Sampson Pierce and Rachel Barnes who lived in Hall Co. just south of the Lumpkin Co. border near Wahoo Bapt. Church. The relationships I've shown with a question mark are based on my conclusion that the following three were brothers: Sampson Pierce (b.1804 SC) md. Rachel Barnes Wilson Pierce (b.1811 GA) md. Nancy Barton Andrew Jackson Pierce (b.1815 GA) md. Nancy Abercrombie Based on circumstantial evidence, it appears that these three were brothers and that their father was Reuben Pierce (b.1768 SC). However, no direct evidence has been found to prove these relationships. Reuben could have been the father, grandfather or uncle to any of them, meaning that the three could have been cousins or otherwise related. Dan Pierce Saugus, CA
