The list owner has the choice of setting the reply button to the list or to the sender. The Pierce list is set to go to the sender. If you click on your "reply to all button", you can just send to both the sender and the list or remove the senders name. Some people don't want all the replies. Saw a big UNSUBSCRIBE come through the list yesterday, so guess they thought we were doing too much posting. <G> I thought the list had become very quiet myself until now. I agree the best way is to see the answers and the reply button should be set to the Pierce mailing list. Just my opinion. Have been posting to the Rhode Island Pierce Project, check it out. Most lists are set up in the manner you describe. I was one of the people that responded to Dale. When I hit the 'reply' button the address was listed as his, not the lists'. I would see this as more of a request to send to the list administrator. Currently the address of this list must be typed in for new submissions as well as responses. I will vote for the change Teri Judy Arnold wrote: > We went through this on another list I was on and I asked that all answers be sent to everyone > not just the person asking the question. We went through this on another list I was on and I asked that all answers be sent to everyone not just the person asking the question. This is the only way we have of sharing. On that list every one agreed with me and started sharing the answers with everyone so we would all have the opportunity to take advantage of the answer or delete if the answer had no use to them. I read the questions and look forward to learning the answers. Thank you for listening Judith Pierce Arnold [email protected] wrote: > The following message was posted to the Digest. The following message was posted to the Digest. I must admit that I am very confused. I thought this list was intended for everyone to post queries and S HARE responses. I saw no responses to her request yet she apparently got responses. So what were they? I would also like to know. If we don't share answers we are no better off than we were before - working alone in a library. It is one thing to post a query about a specific person and see no response (although even then you never know what might click with another person and bingo another "cousin" found!) but something this general should be shared. So, may I see responses, please??!! -------------------
While I was at the NGS library, I checked a book on five generations of Mayflower decedents and, yes, I forgot to note the correct title/author!!!! However, it indicated that George Pearce (b 2 Mar 1696/7, d 22 Feb 1764 in Little Compton, R.I.) married Deborah Searle on 20 Feb 1716/17) and that Deborah is a Mayflower decedent. The article had specific years indicated where I have 2. This is the way my Family Tree Maker treats years in this period. My line goes through George's brother, so I didn't make it to the Mayflower. Did something dumb when I was in the Library of Congress Library last October. In several places in my notes, I wrote "AFN" followed by a letter/NUMBER sequence. For example, AFN BSXM-NV or AFN 8TFJ-B5. I forgot to note just what this sequence means. Is it an LDS identifier? WWP Linda & Warren Pearce Colorado Springs CO 80919-4821
Hi everyone, My request for help on the Pierce crest was my first foray into the mailing list community and was very pleasantly surprised at the responses that I got. Thanks to the replies that I received, I found a couple of different variations on the Pierce family crest. Thanks go out to everyone who replied and who was thinking of replying. Hello all, The correct address for the main page for the Pierce Project is as follows: <A HREF="http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~pierces/teams.html">The Pierce Project </A> http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~pierces/teams.html I just checked and all the links seem to be working. I just made a correction on my Pierce Project page for NE as I had an old link on there. Sorry if I led anyone astray. The Pierce Project was started over a year ago to make as much Pierce and variant spellings of, available on the internet. Anita who owned this mailing list at the time, started this project and when she was unable to continue with it, Chuck and Brenda took it over. They all have worked very hard to get the project going and keep it going. We always need your help. People to take over some of the Team pages and to submit their data. I am pleased to have been a part of this project from the beginning and to see now that it is still going. If you would like to part of this project in anyway, send any email to the Pierce mailing list and someone will respond. Thanks to all who have helped and to those to come. I am fairly new to this site. I was very excited to learn that there are so many people posting so much info on Pierces! From the Pierce Project for New England, I tried to jump to other areas and got error messages. Would greatly appreciate the address for Team 7- Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Delaware and Washington DC. Captain - Chuck. Could you give me their address? Thanks!
Does anyone have the address for the Pearce Project homepage I seem to have misplaced it. Bob
I have been trying to access the PA Pierce project and cannot get through. Has the URL changed? Thanks, Linda Pierce Moore [email protected]
Hi everybody, I have been unsuccessfully attempting to scour the internet looking for the Pierce coat of arms. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance, Dale =================================== Dale Arnold [email protected]
Hello all, Just want to say a speical thank you to Linda and Warren for sharing all those Rhode Island Vital Records. I will be putting them on the Pierce Project page for Rhode Island. Also want to remind everyone to visit the Pierce Project for New England. There is a lot of wonderful information there and more still to go and with the help and support I have received, it continues to grow. Thanks to everyone who has helped and can always use more.
