Thought I would post again for any new Listers: I am trying to locate a man whose first name I do not know. My great aunt, Wadie Young, b. 1877 in Perry Co., KY, married a man by the last name of Pierce sometime probably a few years before 1900. She bought land, on her own, and paid cash in Lawrence Co., KY in 1905. She had three Pierce children: Virginia, Lucille and Tenney Belle. I do not know what became of Mr. Pierce. Did he die? Were they divorced? She and the children moved to CA about 1906 and by 1914 she had remarried to E. A. Webb. Her marriage to Mr. Pierce could have taken place anywhere in eastern KY and even possibly in West Virginia. She died on Feb 4, 1945 in Los Angeles, CA. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Thanks. I'm searching for Miss Mary E. PIERCE who married Peter Isaac GUERRY in 1840. Miss Mary E. PIERCE was born about 1812, possibly around <Charleston> SC; Census information says born in SC; d. 1887). I am looking for the ancestors of Miss Mary PIERCE. From naming patterns within the PIERCE-GUERRY family, I have an intuitive hunch one of Miss Mary E. PIERCE's ancestors possibly could be a KING, since a son of Mary E. PIERCE and Peter Isaac GUERRY carried the given names of George King. Thanks for any information, leads, hypotheses on finding this family. Mary Jacques in Montana [email protected]

Daniel, et al: These are just files that contain data found in cemeteries, churches, etc. I go through and try to search out the Pierce info, but I get behind, so if you know you had family in a particular area it never hurts to look in that county ----- Original Message ----- From: Daniel Pierce <[email protected]> To: B & C Pierce <[email protected]> Cc: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, January 29, 2000 10:47 PM Subject: Re: [PIERCE-L] Newly uploaded GA Research files > B & C Pierce wrote: > > > > More data to the USGENWEB Project for georgia researchers, fyi > > > > > > Brenda, > > Are these uploaded data files suppose to contain references to the surname > PIERCE? > > > By the way, the following link seemed to relate to Gwinnett Co., instead of > Chattooga Co.: > > > ftp://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/ga/chattooga/war/holbrook.txt > > > Dan

William Alton Pierce is my Great Grandfather. His middle name is incorrect in the Worcester and West Boylston records, according to my family information. Birthdate is correct.... "Pierce, William Allen, s. William and Elizabeth, Sept. 4, 1848. (Worcester VR) Pierce, William Allen, s. William and Elizabeth, Sept. 4, 1848. In Worcester. (W. Boylston VR) " -=-=-=- William Alton's father, William son of Levi Jr and Polly, should be spelled Pierce. "Peirce, William, s. Levi Jr. and Polly, July 26, 1821. (W. Boylston VR) " For what it's worth.... Clark Clark W. Nicholls [email protected] http://members.aol.com/CWNicholls fax: 419-844-7564 (yes, 419) phone: 413-243-3433
I am looking for the parents of my Josiah Pierce born 12/1/1833. His brothers and sisters were: William, Sarah, John W., Richard, James, Margaret, Levi, George, Samuel, Martha and Alexander. I do not have a location other than I know that I was told there was a family farm in Kirkland, Clinton Co., Indiana. Josiah died in North Dakota. If this family looks familiar to anyone I would appreciate any help you can give me. Thank you. Claudia Whitehead McCoy
Another good idea I received from another list: Include the maiden names of all married women. Don't you wish they had done that in the 1800's? Dru
Hello to all. I am researching my Pierce ancestors from northeast, OH. Here is the information I have thus far. My Grandfather was Addison Pierce. He was born 10 Nov, 1906. He was married to my Grandmother Minnie Keil. She was born 12 Sep, 1908. They had 6 children. Richard, Ernie, John, Robert, Ray and Sharon. My Grandfather Addison Pierce died on 3 Nov, 1985. My Grandmother Minnie died 30 April, 1995. Richard, Ernie, John, Ray and Sharon are still alive. My Uncle Robert passed away about 3 years ago. I am currently awaiting on the arrival of more in-depth information on all of the above mentioned relatives and on ancestral lines dating back to the early 1700s. I have a cousin in Mentor, OH, whom has done extensive research on our Pierce family and heritage. She has mentioned to me on several occasions upon speaking with her that she has made copies of this info for me. I recently contacted her and let her know that I was currently working our Pierce line and asked her to send me the info she has. So once I receive more information on my Pierce line I'll be sure to post it here. I'm interested to see if any of my research may lead me to possible new cousins. I hope that some of this information I have may help someone fill in a blank spot. take care and Happy Hunting! John Kangas
I received this from a Pearce researcher and think it is a very good idea and worth passing on. Greetings to all, For those of you who may think I went away since my Pierce Project pages haven't been updated since December or I haven't responded to you, I didn't, but have been busy creating some new pages for you. I have moved the Pierce pages to a new home to make room for more data and have now added some of the Genealogies from the books, Thomas Pierce of Dorchester and John Pers/Peirce of Watertown and been linking them to the alphabetical pages. I have also started a page called "Other States," which is for people who moved to states other than the ones I do. This way you can view it and then the other Teams can take the data from this page. Please read the Introduction on the Genealogies page for more information on this project. Dick Pierce ([email protected]) would like to be in contact with anyone researching the Thomas line. Thanks Dick for all your support with this project. Just a reminder that volunteers are always needed for the Pierce Project for all states. Hope this new part of the project is helpful to some of you and keep coming back as I will continue to add lines and updates. Would appreciate feedback on this new project and suggest you send it to the Pierce mailing list and not just to me so that everyone can benefit from it. Re the question of how the Irish spell our surname; I've seen Pearse most often. Patrick Henry Pearse was the poet of the Irish revolution. He was executed by the British in 1916. As a rule of thumb I look for all spelling variations when researching.
My Hugh Pierce was spelled as Pearce on his Revolutionary Records. I always look at all spellings. Wanda
Your tombstone stands among the rest; Neglected and alone. The name and date are chiseled out On polished, marbled stone. It reaches out to all who care It is too late to mourn. You did not know that I exist You died and I was born. Yet each of us are cells of you In flesh, in blood, in bone. Our blood contracts and beats a pulse Entirely not our own. Dear Ancestor, the place you filled One hundred years ago Spreads out among the ones you left Who would have loved you so. I wonder if you lived and loved, I wonder if you knew That someday I would find this spot, And come to visit you. --Author Unknown
Howdy All, I am trying to locate some proof about the Confederate Service of Robert C. Pierce of Jackson County, Alabama. His father was Solomon B. Pierce. Robert, who was generally called Rob, wrote a letter home to his wife during the war in which he said that he was still serving in the 15th Tennessee Infantry, but that he was going to try to get a transfer to either the 4th (4th what?), or Smith's Cavalry. According to the family, he died during the war, and his widow remarried a man named McKay. I looked in Broadfoot's Roster of Confederate soldiers for anyone of this name, and found no Pierce (or Pearce) in the 15th Tennessee, or any unit that looked like any of those listed in the letter. Does anyone out there have anything on this Robert Pierce? Jim Dark Arlington, Texas
Now I am totally confused. I have never been able to find reference to my PIERCE family in Oswego, IL. Today by chance I found the entire family listed at the Kedall County IL. website. The unusual thing is the name is spelled as PEARCE and they are buried at the PEARCE cemetery in Oswego, IL. Has anyone ever heard of Irish PIERCE being spelled as PEARCE? I have just begun my search on this sector of the PIERCE family and I am not that familiar with the PEARCE/PIERCE thing. could someone tell me if the Irish PIERCE could be PEARCE too. Thanks, Melissa
