JEMIMA QUICK was the first wife of Capt. WILLIAM PIATT (1743-1791). They were married in Somerset Co NJ on 27 Jun 1774, with the marriage license dated 24 Jun 1774. JEMIMA was the daughter of Col ABRAHAM QUICK, of Ten Mile Run NJ, and MACHTEL VEGHTE. JEMIMA and JACOMYNTJE were one in the same person. Old Dutch records were often written in what sounds like a dialect when read aloud. The only son of JEMIMA and WILLIAM was a JOHN who was baptised 12 April 1778 at the Six Mile Run Church in Somerset Co NJ. (WILLIAM had 4 other children by his second wife SARAH SHOTWELL.)
