    1. [PIATT] Introduction
    2. Don Koch
    3. I am Don Piatt Koch and I am a newcomer to this ancestor research so my learning curve has been going a bit crazy. Laverne Ingram Piatt has been of tremendous help and I have ordered and received a set of the PFN to keep me from reinventing too much of the wheel. My line as I have it now is as follows (dates are in many cases ca): Rene Piat (1652-1705) & Elizabeth Sheffield (1656-----) Jacob Piatt (1678-1750) & Mary Hull (1681-17--) John Piatt (1712-1760) & Frances VanVliet (1713-1776) Abraham Piatt (1745-1791) & Annabelle Andrew (1748-1822) Abraham Piatt (1776-1829) & Jane Hageman (17---18--) Michael H Piatt (1816-1895) & Eliza D. Kirk (1817-1895) Harry B. Piatt (1850-1936) & Rosa Barth (1856-1925) Augustus Koch (18---1936) & Beatrice "Trix" Koch (1886-1984) Piatt Koch (1913-1977) & Margueritte Simon (1918-1998) (my parents) Don Piatt Koch (1939-I am still here) & Mie Nakano(1948 happily she is still here) I am particularly interested in finding out more on Harry B. Piatt & Rosa Barth and their 5 daughters. Trix we know a bit about since she was my grandmother. Her sisters were Josephine, Augusta, Louise, and Hazel and all were born in St. Louis, MO. We are trying to find out if any of the sisters had offspring and what became of them. Then I expect to step back a generation and look some more. I am trying to find documentation on all of them and stories if they exist. Some of the data about the sisters in PFN 5:38 appears to be a bit off. I surmise that this is probably due to information found in the will of Harry B. Piatt. The will was probated in 1936 but written years earlier. Because of this the specific information about places of residence of the sisters in 1936 may be off a bit. For example, in 1936, Trix is shown as residing in Nashvill, TN but in reality had been working for the New Mexico Department of Highways in Santa Fe, NM for 5 years. She did spend 4 years working for the Nashville Banner newspaper in Nashville, TN from about 1923 to about 1927. More about Trix in a separate Email. As for the other sisters, the info I have shows: 1. Josephine "Jo" Piatt, b. Mar. 1878, St.Louis, MO., m. J. B. Wood. (1936 reside in Santa Fe, NM??) 2. Augusta "Gus" Piatt, b. Jul 1880, St. Louis, MO., m. Lee C. Daves. (1936 resive in Albuquerque, NM??) 3. Louisa "Lou" Piatt, b. Feb 28, 1882, St. Louis. MO., m. William F. Brogan, d. Oct 1970. (1936 SanAntonio TX) children: Louise Brogan Mary Carmel Brogan 4. Beatrice "Trix" Piatt, b. Jan 3, 1886, St. Louis. MO., m. Dec 6, 1912, Augustus Koch, d. 1984. children: Piatt Koch, b 1913, m1 Margueritte Simon, m2 Gwen ?, d. 1977. 5. Hazel Piatt, b. Feb. 1892, St. Louis, MO., m. George P. Emerson, d.?. (1936 reside in Baltimore, MD??) I am fascinated by the depth of research that has already been done and how helpful others doing this kind of research are. The search is addictive. Like a bunch of part time (well some seem full time) detectives digging up pieces and sharing them. Fun stuff. I am on the road a great deal of the time. I live in Alaska but work for the state of Delaware, so I have a mean commute. Recently I have been doing a job in Frederick MD. On the way there I stopped at an antique co-op in Westminister MD and found a book that turned out to be of Piatt interest. I went back later and bought the book. The book is titled “Washington, The Man and The Mason” by Charles Callahan. The book was printed in 1913 by the Press of National Publishing Company, Inc. It was published under the auspices of the Memorial Temple Committee of the George Washington Masonic National Memorial Association. In the book on page 267 there is a reference to a meeting of the Morristown American Union Lodge on December 27, 1779. The listing of those present include Washington and among others a “Brother Piatt.” No indication of a first name is given but Laverne suspects it may have been Daniel. She is already hot on the trail and has attempted to contact the Association to see if any additional documentation can be found at that source. Seems the meeting may have been directed at making Lafayette an honorary member. The lists also notes that “Arnold (the Traitor)” attended. Fun stuff. At any rate, I hope to be a participant in this exercise and it certainly gives me something interesting to do when I am on the road and in off working hours. I am also trying to locate a copy of "The Tribe of Jacob" so far without success. Any one know of an available copy? Cheers, Don Piatt Koch
