For Amanda and others, Lake Hope is near Athens in Athens Co OH. I drove out there when my parents visited me at Ohio University and brought a CAR. Piatt Park in Monroe Co OH includes the Davis Caves. Although I haven't yet been there I've seen photos of this spectacular area and have read that there are plants growing there that don't grow anywhere else until you reach Canada. Apparently these plants are remnants of old growth and climate and have not been disturbed there over centuries. The park is located in Adams Township of Monroe Co OH, north off SR 78 east of Woodsfield. The turn-off is well marked. One would think that the property was once owned by a Davis family and may have been, but when the Monroe Co Park District bought the land, they bought it from descendants of Isaac and Adda Grant Piatt.
