    3. Does anyone have any more information about the following: Albert F. Koehler in THE HUGUENOTS of The Early French in New Jersey, reprinted 1992 by The Clearfield Co., p. 24: Reune Piatt, a native of Dauphiny, France . . . . . HIS SON JOHN WAS OF SOMERSET COUNTY Was there really a John or did Koehler read the name wrong from the original document [which he does not identify]? Elise

    3. For Elise, Current thought is that JOHN of Somerset Co NJ was a _grandson_ of RENE (REUNE) PIATT through Rene's so JACOB PIATT and wife MARY HULL. This JOHN is the one who married FRANCES VAN VLIET WYCKOFF and who was also known erroneously as JOHN OF FRANCE. (Maybe he would not have been called that if he hadn't married FRANCES--John of France--John and Frances, sound a LOT alike to me.) Corrections and debate on this statement are welcome. -- Laverne Ingram Piatt Ontario, OH

    3. Laverne, John of "Frances" is a possibility. I thought it was John of France because he was of French ancestry in a sold Dutch settlement. I may try to track down the author of that book and see where he got the info that Reynier had a son named John in Somerset Co. Elise
