    3. Laverne, John of "Frances" is a possibility. I thought it was John of France because he was of French ancestry in a sold Dutch settlement. I may try to track down the author of that book and see where he got the info that Reynier had a son named John in Somerset Co. Elise

    2. Laverne Piatt
    3. At our last conference in Fort Wayne, I believe, some of learned that a book about Sarah Morgan Bryan Piatt and her poetry was in the works. In browsing the web this evening I have found two sites concerning a newly published book about her and her poetry. The first at http://www.dispatch.com/news/features01/feb01/607501.html offers a critique on the book published in the Columbus Ohio Dispatch and a photograph of SMB Piatt. I'm amused that a professor at OSU has organized a "Sarah Piatt Week." I must inform my daughter Sarah. I question the statement that SMB Piatt was a descendant of Daniel Boone. I believe that she was related to Rebecca Bryan Boone, Daniel's wife. Comments? More information about the book can be found at the publisher's site at: http://www.press.uillinois.edu/s01/piatt.html SMB Piatt died in 1919 in Caldwell NJ. I believe she is buried there. Does anyone know in which cemetery she is buried? -- Laverne Ingram Piatt Ontario, OH

    3. For Elise, Current thought is that JOHN of Somerset Co NJ was a _grandson_ of RENE (REUNE) PIATT through Rene's so JACOB PIATT and wife MARY HULL. This JOHN is the one who married FRANCES VAN VLIET WYCKOFF and who was also known erroneously as JOHN OF FRANCE. (Maybe he would not have been called that if he hadn't married FRANCES--John of France--John and Frances, sound a LOT alike to me.) Corrections and debate on this statement are welcome. -- Laverne Ingram Piatt Ontario, OH

    2. How funny! I though my husband was the only one who says "Well, Buddy, if you can't even pronounce my name - I know I don't need to talk to you. click" He sees it as an easy and cheap message screening device. I hate to be rude (he's much better at it), but, it does irritate to have your name slaughtered so often. Marianne Pyfatt (my favorite misspelling (on a payment booklet, no less)). 2. Hi Laverne, Glad to hear a good report on your family. I think of you often and wonder how you do it.... I am stilll toying with the idea of attending the conference and wonder if I could attend for just the first few days. I must pick my mother up in Detroit at the airport on 6-28 and be back in Pentwater to host a family reunion on her side on 6-30. We plan to arrive in Mi. from Ca. on 6-15. It will be an 8 hour drive to Pa. for me which I don't relish alone, so I am agonizing over this as you can see...anyway, I guess the bottom line is when do you need to know for sure, and how late could I cancel without penalty if this doesn't work for me?
