    3. --From another mailing list:-- There is an easy way to find books that are in libraries that have their catalogues linked online. This is most public libraries, many college libraries and some genealogical/historical society libraries. The site is WorldCat [OCLC)] http://www.worldcat.org/ Use the search engine to search for a specific title or author or subject. A search for William D. Bennett gave a list of books he had written. Click on the desired book title and it will give a list of libraries that hold that book. If you enter your zip code, it will even sort the libraries by distance from your home. For example: I searched on William D. Bennett and got 1629 hits for William Bennett even though I had specified the middle initial D. I refined the search specifically for William D. Bennett and got 37 hits--a manageable number. I chose "Orange County Records" and got a list of 72 libraries that hold that title, the nearest of which is 66 miles from my home. This has helped me find lots of books. I now keep a list of books and their locations. When I travel, I know what libraries I need to visit!! -- Good for inter-library loan requests too. It works for genealogy books.
