Well.... folks...... Friday, I received one photopied page from the Lawnview Cemetery Office as a result of my request and $20 in fee to them for information on burial of Thornton and Lucinda BARNES and possibly Hannah (SAVAGE) BUZZARD, Lucinda's mother, and I am happy to report that after several years of searching the internet, etc., Hannah SAVAGE BUZZARD 'is' buried at Mount Peace in Sec I (eye), Lot 98!!!!! hurray!!!! VICTORY!!! Finally found her resting place! In fact there are 2 lots - Sec I, Lot 97 and Lot 98 with a monument in the center of the 2 lots. Oh, for a picture of it! Any volunteers near this Mount Peace cemetery which is located at 3111 Lehigh Ave, Phila PA 19132. office available M-F 8:30am-4pm and 8:30am-1pm on Sats. and can tell you where Sec I is! Catharine BARNES bought 2 lots 97 and 98 in section I per a deed #7143 dated 7/10/1924 which was shown on the copied page. She was the widow of John T BARNES, the son of Thornton and Lucinda, but they don't show her buried in them! Would the others have already been buried there, and then she purchased the lots in 7/1924? I am confused about that date of the deed, and the fact that these people had been dead for 20 or more years before the lot was purchased. Was something going on in 1924 there to require them to purchase a deed or something? Sec I In Lot 97 are Thornton and Lucinda BARNES in grave #2 and 3. There are 4 graves in this lot, but only these two show burials there per the photocopied page. grave 2 - Thornton BARNES age 74 died of consumption buried 6/21/1881 grave 3 - Lucinda BARNES age 78, died of cancer of breast, buried 7/25/1895 A note on the margin says headstones removed and marble monument in center of 2 lots on 4/4/1949 - doesn't say who did this..... In Lot 98 are 3 graves with Hannah BUZZARD, Mildred BARNES age 2, probably gr-dau., and John T BARNES. grave-1 Hannah BUZZARD age 91, died of old age buried 5/26/1885. grave-2 Mildred BARNES age 2 died of membranous-croup, buried Nov 19 1900 or Mar 19 1900 (copy is poor). grave 3 John T BARNES age 44 buried 5/31/1901. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Nancie.......Could you please look for a death notice in the Phila Paper for John T BARNES died late 5/1901? Buried on 5/31/1901 at Mount Peace. Also would there be one for Mildred BARNES either in Mar 1900 or Nov 1900? And.....Is there any chance of looking for his widow Catharine BARNES after 7/1924? I have no idea when she died, but she must have been alive then to purchase the lots. She was born 7/1861 per 1900CR. Thanks Diana in Pelham AL, safe from the awful tornadoes in our State!
