    3. I did visit the Philadelphia City Archives to look this up, and that was a disappointment. There were two different dockets for 1861, and each was wrapped and taped--it seems that it's been a verrrry long time since anyone has used them. In any case, the end result is that the case I was looking for was not listed in either docket. FYI, in 1861, it's dockets only--no notes have survived from that year (I don't know about others because I didn't ask).
