The library found a 1892 Philly City Directory address entry where one of my relatives lived at the time she was married. Harvey, Mary, nurse, 2108 Webster I believe this entry is either the mother or sister of my relative, Kate Harvey. Can I assume that by the way it is listed, without a "wid John" for instance, that Mary is single? Who got to be listed the City Directory in that timeframe? Head of household, anyone over 21, if you had an occupation, paid for an entry, were the rules for listing a woman different than a man???
