    1. [Phly-Rts] MY PHILLY MYSTERY
    2. My great grandmother Anna Maria Ford was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on December 19, 1826. Her parents were Thomas and Joanna Ford. On June 1, 1843 Anna Maria married Hanson Murray in the Church of the Evangelist, Philadelphia . Hanson Murray was born about 1822, and nothing more is known of his origin. Hanson Murray died in September 1844 and was buried in Union Cemetery on September 30, 1844. The mystery relates to an entry in the 1850 US Census for Philadelphia that lists Joanna Ford (age 50), Anna Murray (age22), and Thomas Murray (age 5). If this Thomas Murray is the son of Anna Maria Ford and Hanson Murray, he must have been born posthumously. I have not been able to find this trio in later censuses. I want to determine whether they are my kin. My great grandmother Anna Murray (nee Ford) remarried on September 8, 1863. Her second spouse was John Smith Sterling, a native of Maryland and a Navy veteran of the War with Mexico. In Philadelphia, John worked in trades associated ships and ship supplies. This was possibly John’s second marriage as well. In addition to solving the Murray mystery, I am trying to identify ancestors of Anna Maria Ford and John Smith Sterling. John’s parents were George and Lydia Sterling. Any lead or suggestion would be welcomed All the Best!
