In case you aren't aware of this: All wills must be ordered at the Dept of Wills office in City Hall office. The orders will be sent up to the storage area under the City Archives and brought back at some unspecified time to the Dept of Wills, where you must return to view them. I don't know their estimated time frame or how you will be notified it has come in. What this does is eliminate the ability for same- day service. Many people who were able to get to the Will Dept early enough in the day to get the index information would then zip up to the City Archives, phone downstairs to Bobby, and he would bring it up for review if it was before 2:30-3:30. If you already had the will index from some other source, you could go directly to the C.A. for retrieval and viewing, avoiding City Hall entirely. Now it's all being handled similarly to the viewing of marriages >1915... you put your order in at the office and some days later come back to look at it. This is going to be a hardship on out -of-towners, as I interpret it, but knowing how our wonderful city government works, I doubt there is a way around it. jo -- No virus found in this outgoing message.
