Hi.. I have ancestors buried all over the Phila. area. Some cemeteries charge for information and some don't. I was particularly disturbed when I called Greenmount and was told that they wanted $100!! I had a burial date and was pretty irritated so the secy gave me some limited info over the phone anyway. I do have family buried at Mt. Peace, which I visit occasionally. While the cemetery is in an inner city location, it is well maintained. I have also had help from the folks at Lawnview. I don't think that their fee is unreasonable...especially if there is extensive searching required. They sent me very useful information. There is another area cemetery just outside of Philadelphia that is situated next to an "older part". They claim that this area does not belong to them and they have no records for it. Rumors persist that this isn't the case. They just don't want to be bothered looking because it will cost them time and energy. It is very frustrating!!! Since I pay fees for access to computer sites, historical societies, etc...I don't mind a reasonable one. In fact, I wish some of these cemeteries would realize that cooperating with descendants might help them out in the long run. I am disturbed if these places are unfriendly and unorganized...or if I get the feeling that they are out to bilk unsuspecting researchers. Just felt the need to "weigh in". Bev W
