Hi Dolly, Sounds like Girard College just lost Charles' records. I can't speak for Girard College, but similar institutions would farm out children. Some of my rellies in a Phila. orphanage were sent to a family in upstate NY because there was a need for farm hands. So, I suggest you look for Charles broadly -- don't assume he'd necessarily still be in the Phila. area. Any be sure to check variant spellings. I hope that's somewhat helpful... Claire K.
