Jane: More then likely the market you mention was on 2nd Street. 2nd Street from around Poplar to Fairmount is very wide to allow for the market stalls that ran down the middle. I'm not sure when it closed, but it was open in the early 1900's. Fairmount Ave is too narrow for stalls in that area. Ken Milano may have information on it.
