Hello, I'd be so grateful if someone could do the marriage look-up (below) for me, as I live in Florida. I need confirmation of this marriage date: 6 Oct 1864, in Philadelphia for William BOCKIUS and Sarah Ann MCARTHUR (her parents: John & Sophia). I was told that confirmation for this marriage date can be found at the Phila. Free Library (main branch), in the 2nd Floor Newspaper Archives Room. It should be listed in the Public Ledger Newspaper Index, 1839-1879. Or, in the Phila Archives on Market St. Thanks so much! Linda, In my experience, the only thing that will be in the newspaper is the information that two people of these names took out a marriage license, so the Free Library generally or the Public Ledger index specifically, probably won't get you too far -- unless these folks were high society and their marriage might have rated an article? Maybe someone can check the indexes and find the marriage ledger details for you from the City Archives. If not, you can pay the City Archives (or an independent researcher) to do the research for you.
