GenealogyBank has the Philadelphia Inquirer up to 1922, but has no entry for a William Bruchey in Philadelphia, so if you're sure he died in Philadelphia, maybe it was after 1922. There were four WBs in GB, ranging from 1869 to 1918, all in the Maryland Sun (just in case any may be an earlier generation, if you have MD connections). You say you contacted "the Catholic Cemeteries" and then mention Holy Cross and (Old) Cathedral. Did you contact just the cemeteries, or also The Catholic Cemeteries Office (of the Archdiocese of Phila.)? If you don't know a precise location in the cemetery (which I assume you don't, as you don't even know the YOD), the CCO will charge you for the research, but it's a nominal amount ($15, last I knew), which might be worth it if they will search one cemetery for a few years (I don't know if they'll search 10 years at a time, though). Is there a reason you tried Old Cathedral but not New Cathedral? Are there other family members whose DOD you know who might be buried in the same plot? If so, you can get a free listing of that plot (specifying section, range, and lot numbers) from the CCO, and maybe you'll find WB in the same plot, with his DOBurial. Then finding a death notice will be much easier. Hope one of those ideas helps. Claire K. On Jul 15, 2009, at 11:16 AM, Michael J. O'Brien wrote: > > > -----Original Message----- > From: Michael J. I didn't have time to send off a response yesterday. William Bruchey is found in 1920 Census Philadelphia Ward 28-2521 Arizona St. He was born in MD. Perhaps he was buried with his MD family? In addition to the obits in MD there is a SSDI for another Bruchey that brings the family forth another generation in MD. The Catholic Cemeteries Office 215-587-3560-the people there are VERY nice! Claire has given very good advice! I just found a death cert for Marie Bruchey, dau of Wm H and Phoebe buried 22 May 1899 at American Mechanics Cemetery-premature birth Ward 29 -1810 Woodstock St. Perhaps he was buried in other than a Catholic Cemetery?
