    1. Re: [Phly-Rts] Six-mile stone on Turnpike rd., 1797
    2. Thanks Dave, but I'm aware of The Tunis Ordinary at Lower Merion Meetinghouse. That was rented by Anthony Tunis, who was the grandfather of the Benjamin Tunis I'm searching for. I'm thinking the six-mile stone might be out in Chester county, because a newspaper article I found mentioning a theft at The Benjamin Tunis Inn, has at the bottom the person to see for a reward as a Richard Thomas, Chester County, Dist. ????? Mention of renting it to an Anthony Tunis, who is said to have operated the first "Ordinary" there. Meals at a fixed price. See link below, and follow to General Wayne Inn. If this is the place you are looking for, it is adjacent to the Merion Friends Meeting House on Montgomery Avenue, in Merion, Pa. _http://lowermerionhistory.org/texts/first300/part07.html_ (http://lowermerionhistory.org/texts/first300/part07.html) The building still stands today, but is no longer an Inn.
