Frederick B. SMITH was born 1838-1839, and seems to be the fellow listed as mustered in 9-18-61 in Philadelphia, aged 22. He is in the 1860 census in NY in Brooklyn with his wife and inlaws, but his origins are Philadelphia, and his wife and in-laws are in Philadelphia in 1870. Maybe his family REPORTED HIM in New York in 1860? Or maybe he was in NY but mustered in in Philadelphia? What I'm interested in is any death announement, which may have taken place on September 27, 1862 - though I have not yet ascertained that this is the same Frederick B. Smith. How many were there in Philadelphia with that name, who are never again seen by 1870? So the "odds" are with me. Anything, guys 'n' gals? Vince
