    3. I was recently searching in Cecil County, MD for my Gr. Grandmother's 1910 obit and, in one of those strange genealogical serendipity happenings, came across a newspaper article about the death of Officer Barnett. Thought maybe some on the list might be interested in reading the article. "Cecil Whig" Sat., Dec. 3, 1910 Page 1 Cecil Victim of Deadly Duel Special Officer Barnett, of the Philadelphia police force, and a man whom he suspected as a burglar, had a deadly duel on Monday night, at Pine and Forty-second streets in that city, in which both were mortally wounded. Officer Barnett was the son of George Barnett, formerly of Rowlandville, and his slayer is thought to have been Ellis P. Abbott, who shot and killed his wife, formerly Miss Emma P. Browning, of Lower Oxford, at her home on Fairmount avenue, Philadelphia. Abbott escaped and eluded arrest. ----- Original Message ----- From: "thefamilyfinder" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, April 05, 2009 12:32 AM Subject: Re: [Phly-Rts] Fwd: In search of fallen cop's relatives > Familysearch has a death certificate for George.
