Has anyone on the list any connection to these gentlemen? They were all b. VA in the early 1800s and seem to have migrated to Philadelphia by 1840. Some were watermen or oystermen. They lived in Southwark and quite near to each other. The BULLs and TOWNSEND may have been cousins. They were also likely related to the families with these names in Accomack Co., VA and Somerset/Worcester Cos., MD. Their wives were from NJ or DE but their children were born in PA. Several of them lived to be quite old, dying 1880s or so. I have the Philadelphia mortuary notices from Genealogy Bank. And I have the deaths from the Familysearch pilot, census entries, and entries from the city directories available online. Any other ideas would be welcome particularly since we can't find Samuel M. TOWNSEND [ca 1806-1890] or his adult son Robert J. [bca 1825 VA] in the 1850 census. Samuel is in Philadelphia in 1840 and then 1860-1880. Also, am I interpreting this Philadelphia death record correctly? Samuel M. Townsend, dod 31 Jul 1854, death place: Philadelphia, 1 yr 11 mos, street address: SOUTH CAMDEN, S. Birdsall, MD. Was there a street called Camden or did he die in Camden? Perhaps they were in Camden, something went wrong, they rushed back across the river to the doctor in Philadelphia. Thanks, Liane
