I just received Philip's Return of Death - September 14, 1892 Date of birth 14 September, Philip Fineman, male, white, ward 7, place of birth 1027 South St., parents - Abe Fineman & Sara Fineman, occupation - pedlar I will add the other births listed as I have time. "I am looking for the Family of Abraham & Sarah Fineman - I believe their son Philip Fineman may be my grandfather whose name seems to have changed to Philip Finney between 1920 & 1930 census when he moved from PA to NY. Are there any indexes to wills or obits for the 1930s Philadelphia area? Abraham & Sarah were still alive in the 1930 census. Living with his youngest son Benjamin. I am looking for something that would list Abraham or Sarah's children to see if Philip had changed his name. I live in FL so this would have to be done long distance, I do have access to Ancestry. I have sent for Philip's birth certificate PA & death certificate from California, to see if either help. But Abraham & Sarah's paperwork would be most likely to have their children's names." Thanks, Carol L. Heap West Palm Beach FL
Carol, This couple is in the 1900 census as Abe Fineman with wife Sarah, ch: Namen b 1890, Philip, Nov 1892, Minnie 1895, Bella 1896, Benjamin? 1898. 514 Lombard St. Emigrated from Russia 1887 [1884 in 1920]. 5 children, 5 living. Abe was a grocer. WWI draft registration, June 5, 1917, says Philip Fineman born 12 Sep 1892, living at 2642 S. Warnock, was a painter, married, had been a seaman in the Navy, employed by William Houch(k) at 264 S. 8th. The fellow on the 1920 married to Estelle is also a painter. In 1910 Abraham is enumerated as Feinman and has the Maimons living with him [as in the 1930]. Children Naman down to Evelyn. Philip is a printer. 1920 clearly says house painter, as does WWI registration. Liane
