Is anyone researching John McGARVEY (b. c. 1870 Ireland) who married 1901 Catherine FRIEL (b. c. 1871 Ireland)? They had children John J. (b. 10 August 1902) and Michael (b. c. 1905). The family lived at 2519 Webster St. in 1902, 2708 Oakford St. in 1910, and maybe at 2455 Waterloo St. in 1920; I haven't identified them in 1930. In 1952, son John J. McGarvey has a restaurant at 58th and Woodland Ave. and was elected ward leader for the 51st ward; in 1955, he is living at 2113 S. 57th St. and is married with three children (no names known, though I have leads to follow up on). He was a member of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick and the Donegal Society. He resigned as ward leader in 1957, and I haven't found him after that. Brother Michael McGarvey is active in local politics as of 1952, but I haven't found anything more about him. I'm trying to determine if father John McGARVEY is the same John who is a brother to my Bridget (McGarvey) Royle and Catherine (McGarvey) McGee, and, if so, to trace the family back to Ireland.
