> I wonder if u or one of ur acquaintances there could do what should be a reasonably simple look up for me: > A direct ancestor of mine, WILLIAM BROWN[E], had three, 3 lots totaling 1000 acres purchased from Wm. Penn in about 1683. These are listed in 'In Origianal Purchase' B, p. 6. Two of the lots are listed in 'Philadelphia Old Rights' p.8, lines 199 and 200. These 2 were : for 20 acres 'Liberty Land at D66-25,25 and a city lot D66-39 on line x09. Also there was 480 acres at D66-189,190 . The city lot was located between 1st & 2nd, near the end of the block north[?] of high st.; possibly in the direction of Chestnut- but that would mean their streets or compass did not agree.- surveyed as B22,137. The remainder of the acreage = 500 acres was possibly in Chester Co., maybe in Chichester or Middletown, and still recorded in Philadelphia because of the early date. > My QUESTION is: can u tell me how these LAND HOLDINGS were SOLD or INHERITED or otherwise disposed of? In looking at these, maybe u can specifically geographically locate the various acreage. > > Sincerely, Dr. R. W. Dreyfus > > P.S. Obviously if I [joking because of centuries in between] I still have title to downtown Phili then I am a billionaire and will bank roll the PA Genweb project.
