Forum members, I have found my mother's cousin listed in the 1930 Census as a lodger in the Philadephia Hospital for Contagious Diseases at Hunting Park and Front St. He and many other people are listed as such, with their occupation listed as orderly, or watchman, or wardman or nurse in the hospital. Some were listed as single, some as married, some as widows or widowers. My question is, was it necessary for the people working at the hospital to live there? Did they receive lodging for the work done? Having grown up a short distance away at Front and Allegheny, I now realize that I do not know much about my 'home grounds'. Any information or suggested source for this information will be appreciated. Walt
