I'm going to try to assist this "cousin" (by marriage) to see what I can find: "I recently read a Philadelphia Inquirer article dated June 6, 1905 about a Philadelphia groceryman John H. Doerr who disappeared from Philadelphia and was found in Pottstown, PA with no memory of how he got there. I'm thinking that this might actually be my g-grandfather John George." the article gives his middle initial as H. no age listed. He had left his ;team' in front of commission houses on Delaware on the previous Saturday and checked into the Montgomery House. the article indicates his issue was 'nervousness', and he was willing to return to Philadelphia on the following day. I'm personally wondering if it wasn't John George's son, Harry J. Harry J. was born 1882/1883 and so the timing would be within reason. However, Harry is listed as a welder in 1910, whereas JG is listed as a huckster. Surely the name DOERR was not remarkably common in those days?
