    1. [Phly-Rts] Marriage records 1906
    2. Hello I have a marriage in Philadelphia in 1906 (I have the index # and names)--I seem to remember that these records were filmed and available from a FHC. I'm in NJ about a half an hour from Philadelphia. Is there a way to check if any area centers have the film on hand? I know I can order it as well. Thanks so much for your help. Kathy Karn

    1. [Phly-Rts] Schuetz 1946 suicide-murder
    2. Robert Foran
    3. Thanks to all who've helped with the research on the Emil H. Schuetz suicide-murder that took place on Jan 1, 1946. There is still a lot of confusion in trying to connect the Emil Schuetz who lived in Manchester, CT and the one who lived in Greenfield MA & Philadelphia. I have Emil H. Schuetz b1888 to Henry August Schuetz (1857-1955 CT?) & Johanna Leopoldine Kerwat/Krawart/Karbat (1856-1944 CA). Emil has a brother, William b1886 CT. Emil married Mae Hinaman 1912 Orange Co, NY. Children include a daughter, Victoria b1916 CT). In 1930 Emil & Mae are living in East Hartford, CT In 1942 the WWII draft registration gives Emil's residence as Philadelphia with closest relative, Henry (father?) living in Manchester, CT. Emil's DOB Oct 1, 1888 Conn. On Jan 1, 1946 the suicide-murder in Philly. Emil's spouse, Margaret (Eppler) in Greenfield MA with oldest son, Donald. Jan 4, 1946 Hartford Courant: Emil leaves a brother, William, in CT (this matches census info). His father, Oscar, in Manchester, refuses to claim body. Could "Oscar" really be Henry "August" Schuetz? Problems: 1) the website, Germans to Franklin County Massachusetts Genealogy, has Emil H. Schuetz marrying Margaret Eppler on Sep 25, 1927 in PA. This does not make sense as Emil & Mae Hinaman were still together on the 1930 East Hartford census. It would work if the marriage date was 1937. 2) The Springfield Union paper of 7/71959 has a short item: 'Miss Victoria Schuetz of Hartford has requested police assistance in locating a brother's widow, Mrs. Margaret Schuetz. She told police Mr. and Mrs. Emil H. Schuetz lived in Greenfield in the late 1930s when they moved to Pittsfield. They returned to Greenfield in 1946, she said.' The above would make sense if Victoria was given as Emil's daughter, not his sister. This is not the first strange incident with this family. In 1906 Mrs. Henry Schuetz went missing for a few weeks to "Camden, PA" and returned refusing to elaborate. Would be grateful for any help in straightening out the discrepencies in Emil Schuetz 2 families. Thanks. Bob Foran - CT

    3. Last thing, a Binghamton newspaper [found via Yahoo] says that in 1946 Emil H. Schuetz was 57 years old and balding. So he was the man born 1888. The deaths took place in North Philadelphia. In 1930 he is still married to May and in Hartford aged 41. At some point May either dies or they divorce and he marries his second wife and moves to Philadelphia. And starts a new family. The 1941 census is due out in April and should be revealing since in 1946 he had a 12 year old son with Margaret. Sad story. Liane

    3. There is this family in 1920 Hartford with a daughter Victoria [who was searching for deceased brother's wife]: Emil Schuetz 31 May Schuetz 29 Minnie Schuetz 6 Harold Schuetz 4 [4 1/12] Victoria Schuetz 2 [2 2/12] Leslie Schuetz 0 1942 WWII draft registration may solve the puzzle: Emil Henry Schuetz, 1851 N. 12th St., Phila. 53, b 1 Oct 1888 in Manchester, CT. Next of kin was Henry Schuetz, 403 Center St, Manchester, worked for Heath's Nurseries of Manchester. This data matches the father. On the WWI draft registration he was an insurance guy for Prudential. An Emil Henry Schuetz died in Texas in 1959. Liane

    3. Bob, I found an article from the Cumberland Evening Times dated January 4, 1946 that has the story on page 1 and continued on page 10. I also think that there is a connection. What caught my eye is this sentence - "In one of his notes, Scheutz, a Philadelphia representative of Manchester, Conn. tree nurseries firm..." Story on Jan 4 1946 says wife visiting Greenfield at time of slaying. Headline says, 'Former Greenfield Father Slays Self and Four Children.' However, this front page story is continued on p. 16 but I cannot find p. 16. Went through page by page, Genealogy Bank says there are 8 pages, but some of their page numbers don't match the actual ones in the paper. But I think this is enough to conclude that they are probably the same Emil H. Schuetz. Whether or not it is the the Emil who married in 1912 I don't know but the Phila. one had connections to Mass. But Hartford must surely be the one in CT. Liane

    3. I have Annie A. Agnew, age 20 died Oct. 6, 1883. Lived at 2104 Fairfield street, Phila. Pa. I “have” the inquest notice in Philadelphia Inquirer of Oct. 12, 1883. The Philadelphia death certificate removal only states she was removed from ME Vault to American Mechanics Cemetery on Nov. 3, 1883. '’All'” I am after is the Ward (9th I think) and ED of this 2104 Fairfield street in 1880 to see who is living there. City directories of 1882/3/4 were not helpful. If I can connect her to my Agnew’s, I have an 1876 Sampler made by Annie. Thank you, Jane
