In the U.S. City Directories, 1821-1989 (Beta) Name: Rebecca S Fuller - widow John Fuller Gender: F (Female) Residence Year: 1876 Street Address: h 111 Center G tn Residence Place: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Spouse: John M Fuller Publication Title: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, City Directory, 1876 and Name: Rebecca S Fuller - widow John Fuller Gender: F (Female) Residence Year: 1890 Street Address: 31 Lafeyette Residence Place: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Spouse: John M Fuller Publication Title: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, City Directory, 1890 Which this Rebecca & John M. Inscription: Fuller, John N., died May 23, 1861, ae. 65 yrs., 2 mos., 29 dys. I' hoping to find any information on this family please. We are trying to marry up the above couple with our HENRY FULLER who was living in Co. Armstrong PA on the 1850 (aged 26) and 1860 (aged 36) Census, we are still trying to find his parents. Any help finding Henry mentioned in any legal document/will/probate/obituary is very welcome. Kind regards Dianna from Sydney Oz

    3. The soundex code is in fact d452. Keep in mind that not all of the years used the Russell Index with Soundex codes. It's a bit laborious but you just have to go through them using either Soundex codes or alphabetical order as needed. I have placed versions on my website which are much easier and faster to access than the ones on the PA State Department site. I've included a search too but it's very imperfect due to the poor quality of many of the images which were taken from microfilm. You can find them at http://New.DonsList.net or in the Pennsylvania section on my directory page: http://Directory.DonsList.net I've completed 1901-1944. 1945-1954 will go up probably tomorrow and the rest will complete in a few more days. When you get there on my site, you will see a list of years in the wide upper frame. Click on the chapter which contains "D" for the year you want to search. The complete list of pages for that "chapter" will appear in the narrow frame to the left. Scroll down to the page where you would like to start and click on the page number. It will appear in the large frame below. In that page list you will see index entries every 10 pages showing what is on that page and the ones which follow. You'll see what I mean right away when you get there. It helps locate what you want to look at. I hope it's helpful. If appropriate, post back to the list if you have questions or problems as likely others will be interested in it and will have had similar questions. I'll keep an eye out and try to respond promptly but hopefully others who have used the resource will also respond. Death indices can be made public 50 years after the death. As a further explanation, the years 1906-1919 are alphabetical, 1920-1924 use the Russell Soundex code, 1925-1929 are alphabetical, 1930-1951 use the Russell Soundex Code 1952-1961 are alphabetical. On the black on white pages, the Soundex code is the column with the letter followed by the 3 digit number. On the white on black pages, the Soundex code appears in the first column. For rules/directions on how to determine the Soundex code see: <[7]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soundex> There is also a PA birth Indices page, but only 1906 is posted, as births cannot be made public until 105 years after the year of birth. 3. I found out the D stands for Davis in Dr. Lewis D. Harlow. So the DeArmand thingy is out. Sigh. Too bad. It would have made things easier. Vince

    2. Vincent E. Summers
    3. Ha! I do believe I have it. I see that in the 1880, 1870, and 1860 census, Dr. Lewis D. HARLOW was married to an Anna R. Unknown. I figure that's Anna Rogers -- in all likelihood (based on the age) a daughter or younger sister of Ellen Rogers CHAMBERS. If so, the doctor was not only family, but the family doctor. Only natural down the line family members should be named for him. And his D may be DeArmand - a name which I ***never was able*** to figure the origin of. If anyone can verify any of this, I'd really love it. Thanks, Vince

    1. [Phly-Rts] Have I Discovered Something? Dr. Lewis D. Harlow
    2. Vincent E. Summers
    3. Louis Harlow AYRES' grandmother Ellen ROGERS CHAMBERS had her death certificate signed by a Dr. Lewis D. HARLOW. Five years later, Ellen's son, Richard CHAMBERS had *his* death certificate also signed by that man. Now he was apparently a famous physician. Relatively, anyway. In obstetrics? Could his middle initial have been DeArmand? Richard's sister was named Elizabeth DeArmand CHAMBERS, and she married William AYRES. Just trying two kill two family mysteries with one stone. Thanks! Vince

    3. No, not your spelling, EP. It's on the labels of the online blankets. Now it is possible the family changed the spelling, but for 250 years in this country, they were quite STRICT about AYRES.
