    1. Re: [Phly-Rts] Marriage Request Lookup
    2. Marriage records are at the Marriage License Bureau of the Philadelphia Orphans Court, City Hall, Philadelphia, 19107. There may be some at the LDS.

    3. Patti, Neither an 1892 nor a 1903 Philadelphia marriage license will give you parents' names, unless one or both parties were minors and needed to provide a parent/guardian consent form. (Phila. licenses don't give parental information until c. 1913). The license may, however, have been annotated to specify the church at which the marriage took place (otherwise, it only tells you the officiant's name and address and you have to figure out the church on your own). Some (not many) church records might give you information on the parents -- but I see this mostly in German-speaking Lutheran parishes, so this may not apply to your situation. The marriage certs will, however, give you the bride's and groom's respective addresses, occupations, ages/DOBs, and POBs, which you can use to (maybe) find them in City Directories (maybe you'll find the names of family they're living with) and in birth (and/or baptism) records, which should (finally) get you the parents' names (though not necessarily the mother's maiden name). The marriage certs will, of course, give you the date of the application (possibly the same as the date of marriage) and the date of marriage, so at least you can have that piece of the puzzle answered relatively easily, once you find the license. There is a marriage license index for Phila. that covers 1885-1916, so both your Jacob's marriage should be in it. The index will give you the year and certificate number; you (or a volunteer) will have to look at the actual cert. in order to find out the full details. Both the index and the certs are available on microfilm at the City Archives and through the LDS. Hope that helps. Claire K. 3. Barbara, Thank you for sending the list to me. To simplify things....why don't you just send an email to the list with the list attached rather than sending it to each of us separately. This is too much to expect you to look for each of us. Thank you so much for sharing this information. 1. [Phly-Rts] Look Up Offer
    2. Susan Abramson
    3. Hi Nancie -- Hope the weather is getting better there! I also tried to e-mail you direct, but the message came back as "undeliverable." I am looking for an obit for a John G. Wolf who died on May 15, 1875 in Philadelphia. The Census of 1870 locates him in the 35th District of Philadelphia (no street name given). I have seven couples that I would like to find marriage info for, but I'm only going to bug you with the following one: Abner McMichael and Anna Calvin, September 26, 1879. I think this marriage took place in the Germantown area of the city. Thanks for your kind look-up offer!
