    3. Great, Debbie. Yes, this is Amanda. It is good to know both when she died and where she's buried. Someday the final piece of the puzzle will be found out, but not likely in the near future. The maiden name of Rachel H. FITZGERALD! Likely the initial is for Helen, as she had a daughter by that name. But no maiden name anywhere to be found! Thanks very much for this obit! 3. Gang, I am going to chance it that you won't be aggravated with me for making yet another request! One missing death for me is: Amanda Fitzgerald STEVENSON, the wife of James White STEVENSON, and daughter of the Rachel Helen Unknown FITZGERALD. Is she listed among the Phila Inq articles? Thanks, Vince P.S. I estimate or plain guess that she may have died June 1870 to June 1880.

    2. Vince - Are you doing the Baldwin genealogy? I've been told that my x-gr-grandmother, Elizabeth Ford, wife of Abraham, was a Baldwin. Haven't seen any proof yet. Abraham served in the Revolutionary War and he, Elizabeth, and their children became Quakers after the War. They lived in Delaware and supposedly Abraham and Elizabeth are buried in the Wilmington Friends Burial Ground, although, again, I have no proof. Their granddaughter, Hannah Hedges Ford married Edward Manning Roche. They had a pharmacy in Philadelphia. Mary. ************************************** AOL now offers free email to everyone. 3. Happy St. Patricks day! I wonder if anyone can direct me. I would like to learn more about how my great great grandfather might have learned to become a cordwainer/shoemaker. I suppose an apprenticeship might have been involved but have no idea, nor if so, if any records might have been made and kept. He lived 1826-1886. I also had a great great grandfather who, like his father, was a ship's carpenter. I'm similarly interested to learn about how that trade was learned. He lived 1832-1897. I'm hoping to plan for a research trip to Philly in May so if I need to visit somewhere (Balch? HSP? FLP?) perhaps I will be able to arrange it at that time. Thanks for any guidance.
