    3. The deed office in City Hall, Philadelphia, has deeds back to the beginning of Pennsylvania, as does the deed office in Doylestown, Bucks Co., and West Chester, Chester Co. 1. [Phly-Rts] CROUTs buried at Mount Moriah--help please.
    2. larzemail
    3. Would anyone be visiting Mount Moriah and be able to look up any one of the following please? Thomas J. CROUT, died 29 Jan 1888 in Montgomery Co, buried MM Margaret W. Crout, died Feb 04 1890, buried MM Oliver CROUT, buried 20 Nov 1891 MM John H. CROUT, buried 09 Jan 1899 MM Thomas G. or J. CROUT, died Jun 1916 in Cheyney, buried MM John A. CROUT, died Feb 1918, buried MM I'm hoping that learning more of the burial will help to sort out who is buried with who and better establish their relationships; the Johns and Thomas's are particularly confusing. On a related note, does anyone know what the records are like that HSP has? Are they indexed, in chronological order, in alphabetical order? I'm planning to use them and would it helpful to have an idea what to expect. Thanks! --------------------------------- Don't get soaked. Take a quick peek at the forecast with theYahoo! 2. The fee at the HSP is $30 or $40 per hour. In the past, there was one person who either worked for or volunteered for the GSP who researched both there and at the HSP. I don't know if they still offer that service, but it wasn't cheap and it wasn't fast. You might want to ask on the Mt. Moriah list if there is anyone who can do this for you. -----Original Message----- From: Kychambers@aol.com To: philly-roots@rootsweb.com Sent: Sun, 8 Apr 2007 5:17 PM Subject: Re: [Phly-Rts] Mt. Moriah If no one is going to Mount Moriah, you can contact HSP or GSP (once it reopens after it merges with HSP) and ask them to check the Mount Moriah burial registers they have on microfilm for the plot location. I don't know how complete their micrpfilm is nor do I know what they charge for this research service, but it may be cheaper or comparable to asking Mount Moriah staff at the cemetery to look it up for you. ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com. ********* Visit the threaded archives of this list: http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index/PHILLY-ROOTS ********* ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to PHILLY-ROOTS-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message ________________________________________________________________________ AOL now offers free email to everyone. 1. [Phly-Rts] Oliver Wright, Ireland > Philly
    2. Searching for info on the parents of Oliver Wright, born 1838 in Northern Ireland, immigrated abt 1852, and died after 1910. He was a drayman. He lived in Philadelphia for the rest of his life on York St and East Dauphin St and Quigg's Court (Fishtown). His mother may have been Lucy. His wife was Martha Stenson(Steenson, Stinson)from PA. His children were William, John, Lucinda, Anna, Martha, Oliver Jr, James & Joseph. They were Protestant. I cannot find where he entered the US, it may not have been Philadelphia. He was working in the Richmond area in 1860, and that is the first place I find him in Philadelphia. Then they lived in Fishtown. My elderly mother remembers exactly where their residence was located since Oliver's son, William still lived in the area (on Albert St, between Thompson & Edgemont)and she would go to visit when she was young. Most of the family is buried in North Cedar Hill but not Oliver. There is a Philly family with some of the same names and dates who came from Canada but are not the correct Wright family. Any help on Oliver's parents would be appreciated and I would be glad to share info on his many descendants. This man is one of my brick walls! Sandy researching in PA: WRIGHT, WALDRON, BIRNEY

    1. [Phly-Rts] 1850 Census help please
    2. larzemail
    3. Charles D. CROUT was b. c1824 in Germantown and died 1884 in Philadelphia, buried in West Laurel Hill. Wife was Sarah (nee unknown), possibly a first wife named Mary. I cannot locate Charles in the 1850 census. In 1860 through 1880, he is residing in Philadelphia; in 1870 his last name is Krout in one of the enumerations and I can't find the other one (I think I have just the 2nd enum). I do wonder if I have the correct Charles in 1860, since he is a shoemaker in 1860 and a policeman in 1862--seems a big change to me. The reason I think he possibly had a 1st wife (though it just didn't fit with the 1860 census) is that there is a Mary & Charles CROUT who had a daughter Emma on 31 Mar 1862, and then Charles & Sarah had a son Joseph B on 31 May 1863. Charles for each birth is a policeman; in 1862 in Ward 2 and in 1863 in Ward 1. --------------------------------- TV dinner still cooling? Check out "Tonight's Picks" on Yahoo! TV.
