I now know the spouses of Rondinelli. Emma Rondinelli married Gaetano Madorna or Madona 1922. Carman Rondinelli married Mildred Madorna. I see no relevant Madorna or Madona in 1917 or 1921 PCDs. Does anyone have access to any volumes just briefly after that? Sorry for not using capitals - I'm out of the swing of this... Thanks, Vince -- http://www.associatedcontent.com/user/333797/vincent_summers.html
Thanks to Jane Hamilton, I have a couple of heads-up marriages for two of my RONDINELLIs. It looks like Emma (Mom) remarried 1922 MADONA (my guess is should be MADORNA) Carman married MADORNA in 1925 (my guess is this is correct name) Can you help me with these two? Thanks, Vince Summers -- http://www.associatedcontent.com/user/333797/vincent_summers.html
I just found a blog that lists a relative of Emma Rondinelli. It is at: http://williamfrenzullimd.blogspot.com/2007_10_01_archive.html He is an artist who descends from Emma's daughter, Josephine. The man who married her was Spartaco Renzulli, son of Salvatore. There was time spent in Lancaster County, and in Philadelphia. Anyone see anything here? Thanks, Vince -- http://www.associatedcontent.com/user/333797/vincent_summers.html
Hi, I'm tracking down Emily and her family, listed as Rondinelli in Philadelphia in the 1920 census, as a widow - presumably her husband's name was Giuseppe, but I'm only finding a Guido F. Anyone connect, know anything, or can find anything? I think the husband died between 1915 and 1921. Danke, Vince -- http://www.associatedcontent.com/user/333797/vincent_summers.html
Hi everyone, When I want to get the "feel" of what it was like "back then", I usually try a search on www.phillyhistory.org . I just search (never registered yet). You can search by address or neighborhood and up comes pictures for different time periods. At least it gives a general idea of what life was like. And it's free for now at least! Susan

I'm almost certain that St. Joe's is one of the orphanages I had great success with from PAHRC -- see http://www.pahrc.net/ for contact info. (I think St. Joseph's O merged with St. John's O). Orphanage records are handled separately from the sacramental register requests at PAHRC, so usually can be processed fairly quickly. South St. has been here since the city was founded in 1682. It was the southern boundary of the City of Philadelphia until the city and county were?consolidated in 1854. -----Original Message----- From: Eugene Stackhouse <[email protected]> To: philly-roots <[email protected]> Sent: Wed, Jul 1, 2009 2:06 pm Subject: Re: [Phly-Rts] South Street Yes, it is. Since they were a Philadelphia group I would think yes! My apologies for this note not providing an answer, but... I can't help wondering if this is the same South Street the Orlons sang about in the 1960s? Charlie (born in Philly and craving a cheese steak in Detroit)
Liane, Thanks for your help, just to be clear, did you find Abraham in the 1930 census living with the Maimons? I found him living with son Benjamin. This couple is in the 1900 census as Abe Fineman with wife Sarah, ch: Namen b 1890, Philip, Nov 1892, Minnie 1895, Bella 1896, Benjamin? 1898. 514 Lombard St. Emigrated from Russia 1887 [1884 in 1920]. 5 children, 5 living. Abe was a grocer. WWI draft registration, June 5, 1917, says Philip Fineman born 12 Sep 1892, living at 2642 S. Warnock, was a painter, married, had been a seaman in the Navy, employed by William Houch(k) at 264 S. 8th. The fellow on the 1920 married to Estelle is also a painter. In 1910 Abraham is enumerated as Feinman and has the Maimons living with him [as in the 1930]. Children Naman down to Evelyn. Philip is a printer. 1920 clearly says house painter, as does WWI registration. Liane Thanks, Carol L. Heap Office Administrator Boynton Mall 8142 561 736-7902 ext. 17 561 736-7907 fax

Jane: This link below takes you to the Philadelphia Historic Streets page where you can type in the name "Union" and find all the various streets that were named Union over the years. There appears to have been one in Pine Ward and one in Southwark. http://www.phillyhistory.org/HistoricStreets/ Ken Milano ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jane Hamilton" <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Tuesday, June 30, 2009 7:59:30 AM GMT -05:00 US/Canada Eastern Subject: [Phly-Rts] 1850 census Does anyone know where 22/26 Union street would be in the 1850 census? Via the city directories I found Enoch and John Castner at 26 Union. Then went to the census and located them in the Pine Ward, image 22. But seems this Union should be in South Wark ward??? I just received Philip's Return of Death - September 14, 1892 Date of birth 14 September, Philip Fineman, male, white, ward 7, place of birth 1027 South St., parents - Abe Fineman & Sara Fineman, occupation - pedlar I will add the other births listed as I have time. "I am looking for the Family of Abraham & Sarah Fineman - I believe their son Philip Fineman may be my grandfather whose name seems to have changed to Philip Finney between 1920 & 1930 census when he moved from PA to NY. Are there any indexes to wills or obits for the 1930s Philadelphia area? Abraham & Sarah were still alive in the 1930 census. Living with his youngest son Benjamin. I am looking for something that would list Abraham or Sarah's children to see if Philip had changed his name. I live in FL so this would have to be done long distance, I do have access to Ancestry. I have sent for Philip's birth certificate PA & death certificate from California, to see if either help. But Abraham & Sarah's paperwork would be most likely to have their children's names." Thanks, Carol L. Heap West Palm Beach FL
South St. is still here. There is probably a building at that address. "The problem with the world is that everyone is a few drinks behind." The Return of Birth for Philip Fineman lists this as the parents address at the time of his birth. Looks like a multi-family home since there is a Charlie Esily listed at the same address born 9/3/1892, Philip was born 9/14/1892. Does anyone know if this street is still there, has it changed names & is it possible the building may still stand? Thanks, Carol L. Heap FL
