    1. [Phly-Rts] Baby Graves in Archdiocese Cemeteries
    2. Michael J. O'Brien
    3. We are looking for others who have experienced difficulty placing a marker on a baby grave in the Archdiocesan cemeteries. I have been told by some of the cemeteries that not allowing a marker has nothing to do with legality, but it is simply a policy. In recent years the cemeteries now allow baby markers because of the insistence of parents (at a nominal fee). Thirty or 40 years ago this was not an option, and the Diocese continues to push back upon these requests. I'm looking for comments, suggestions from others who have run into this policy. we have been trying to have something done for our daughter for over 10 years with no results.

    1. [Phly-Rts] FW: Obit lookup for William H Bruchey

    3. -----Original Message----- From: Michael J. O'Brien [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, July 15, 2009 11:09 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Obit lookup for William H Bruchey We are looking for the obituary for WILLIAM H BRUCHEY who died between 1920 and 1930 in Philadelphia. My cousin is visiting Philadelphia from South Carolina and while she is here she would like to visit his grave before she returns home. We have tried asking the Catholic Cemeteries for help. Holy Cross as everyone knows was very helpful and cheerful about checking their records for Mr. Bruchey but apparently he was not buried there. We tried Cathedral and got the usual run around and lack of help. Could some kind person do a lookup for Mr. Bruchey's obit which would likely list his burial site? Again William died between 1920 and 1930. His second wife was Mary E. Greenleaf, a widow. They married in 1917. Thanks for any assistance. Any suggestions to find this burial site would be greatly appreciated!

    3. Sorry for the long delay in answering.  The certificates gave name of child, name of parents (not mom's maiden name), place of birth (usually a home address), name of person who delivered (doctor or midwife), date of birth, plus the date certificate was signed and by whom. I was pleasantly surprised at the info given, especially when it gave the child's complete name including middle name/s. In addition to my GG grandfather Raymond, only his brother Johann Christian EDELMANN may have lived to carry on the Edelmann name so I also would like to know if he married and had children. Their niece is seeking any birth or marriage or census or military or death records.  Any ideas where to search beyond Ancestry and FamilySearch?  Rose Marie Barthmaier was born in Philadelphia in abt 1908 to John Barthmaier and Elizabeth Kitten. Married Charlie Gustafson before WWII, he served in Germany during the War.  He died in his early 40's in about 1953.  Charlie had a sister Karin and a brother Tage aka Harry. Parents may be Fritz and Selma, Swedish immigrants to Philadelphia, who appear on the 1930 census.

    3. With that narrower silhouette, it must be 1878 or later. If it was taken early 1860s she should have had a wide skirt - crinoline style, think Mary Lincoln. Look at Wikipedia photos of the 1860s and then the 1870s. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1860s_in_fashion Although with those sleeves, her dress almost looks 1890s. She also appears to have a wedding ring on her left hand. His clothing looks wrong for the 1860s but look at what Bat Masterton is wearing on the Wikipedia 1870s fashion page. Liane
