Mary KILLINGER married, first, a John FITZGERALD. His demise is unknown. It is likely it can only be determined with great difficulty. She remarried, James AUSTIN in 1804. He died before 1821. I don't know exactly when. Mary K. AUSTIN or possibly AUSTEN (misspelled), died after 1821. Can anyone find any references - especially obits - for either in the papers of the day? It is most unlikely Mary remarried, as she seems to have been about 55 to 60 in 1821. Thanks, Vince
Ray: I think it is about $2.00 a page, depending upon who is on duty. I have another question about wills. If I don't know the year, but can estimate -- sometime between 1955 and 1980, can they find a will? Thanks! Liz J

I have an Eliza or Elizabeth LONG m. James Austin FITZGERALD in 1839. Now she died October 2, 1858, and I am well familiar with that. I am trying to tie in the KILLINGER family's LONGs with the FITZGERALD family's LONGs. This shouldn't be too hard to visualize, since FITZGERALD crosses KILLINGER. Now Elizabeth was born September 25, 1823. I would squeeze blood from a turnip to get her parents! I suspect they tie in with this bunch: LONG, Peter. N. Liberties. Farmer. August 18, 1781. September 1, 1781. S.8. Wife: Margaret. Children: Michael, Catharine. Cousin: George Killinger. Exec: George Killinger, Michael Long. Wit: Michael Ram, Senr. I know the census before 1850 didn't list women - sad! But I am hoping there may be some evidence, whatever the source, to put Eliza in the family of one of these. Any ideas? Vince
http://www.antiquusmorbus.com/English/EnglishP.htm I found "Phrenitis". From: "Vincent E. Summers" <[email protected]> Subject: [Phly-Rts] Phrenetic Fever To: [email protected] I think, I do believe, I have found my Samuel CHILDS listed as Samuel CHILD, died November 7, 1806, buried Christ Church. Death: Phrenetic Fever. Any idea what that is? I get an inkling that it might have something to do with a cerebral hemmorhage? or a stroke? Vince
So the brain is involved. Meningitis is a real possibility, or at least some sort of frenetic inflammatory fever. The man - Captain Samuel Childs - who had it seems to have been a young man, in his 20's. He traveled overseas regularly. He was the father of Chief Coiner George Killinger Childs. Thanks, Terry. I now have found a death cert for a Samuel CHILD of Philadelphia, dated November 7, 1806, who died of Phrenetic Fever. He appears to be the same as Captain Samuel Childs, and also the 1800 census fellow. Margaret Killinger Faville CHILDS is listed as the widow who died of old age, of Captain Sam'l Childs. Can anyone see anything whatsoever on Samuel Childs? In any newspaper articles, etc.? I think he was either of Rhode Island or was operating a vessel that came from Rhode Island at one point. Probably not a stroke. 'Phrenetic' (frenetic) is just a Latin word for intense agitation or frenzy. It is a descriptive term for the symptom (an involuntary behavior), which could have been caused by a number of conditions or organisms. It was some kind of feverish illness, possibly but not necessarily encephalitis, that had caused a wild agitation and possibly delirium. Liz J 2009/8/24 Vincent E.
