    3. If a family had the money to have a body re-interred where would the records be? Looking at a burial in Mch 1877 at Ebenezer Vault to Mt. Moriah, Dec. 19, 1881. And burial Aug. 10, 1882 at Wharton St. Church Cemetery to Mt. Moriah May 29, 1883. Thank you, Jane

I've found re-interments on the Family Search Pilot Site: http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#c=1320976;p=collectionDetails I believe they got the information from the City of Philadelphia Archives. 3. I know my comments won't do any good but I find Gene's tag lines very offensive. I see by your email that I can't use one that has anything to do with religion but one can add this kind of tag line. You say we don't need to read them. Nothing should be included that one has to completely ignore. I don't see any humor in his tag lines. I have been trying to ignore them but it is hard to do. Alcoholic beverages bring grief to many lives -- intoxication is the biggest cause of automobile accidents. When a person begins drinking they never know if they might be the person to develope an alcohol problem. Children are abused, spouses abused, money spent for booze instead of necessities and many, many people who end up in jail are there because of alcohol. This is a vice that people seem to think is acceptable yet just tally up the expenses related to it. Now, where is the humor??????? This is a genealogy list, not a place for humor and I don't think tag lines are necessary at all. Zelda Capehart

    1. [Phly-Rts] The use of taglines on our list -- ADMIN
    2. Short taglines are allowed on our list provided they are not blatantly political, religious, or inciting subscribers to some action. Commercial taglines are not allowed by RootsWeb if they are selling something or inviting fee for services. I don't think in this instance that Gene is selling beer--just making an attempt at humor. That's allowed and if you don't like Gene's or anyone else's tagline--simply ignore the tagline. Also...and more importantly: administrative issues about how a list is managed are NOT to be posted publicly to the list. Contact me PRIVATELY at: [email protected] and I promise to listen to any concerns. I won't always agree with you, but I WILL listen and evaluate what you have to say. Thanks! There are records that exist and the parish secretary was very helpful.? I don't know if they will do any research by mail but I know that I had success making an appointment and visiting the church. This was several years ago but it might be worth a try. Wharton Wesley United Methodist Church...5341 Catherine St., Philadelphia Pa.? 19147?? 215 472 6777 Hope this help! 3. Larry, You could order from your Family History Center the corresponding roll for the marriage licenses! Roll #308185 marriage licenses no. 336100-336699 for 1915. It would be at the end of the roll. You'd get the front page, license and minister's return. If under age the parent's consent should also be included. The address you corresponded with could be for marriages "after" 1915. They are expensive. Philadelphia Archives 3101 Market Street Philadelphia, Pa. 19104 cost is $10.00 Jane ----- Original Message ----- From: "lin" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, September 30, 2009 11:59 AM Subject: Re: [Phly-Rts] Marriage Certificate > > Maybe something has changed in the past few years.....? > > Linda > Sep 30, 2009 09:20:13 AM, [1][email protected] wrote: > > Got this reply... > "There is no way through this office to order a non-certified copy of > any > marriage license. > Thank you. > Paul DiCicco > Assistant Clerk > Philadelphia Orphans Court " > So what gives??? > Larry B. > ----------------------------------------------- > > Date: Tue, 15 Sep 2009 12:26:30 -0500 > > From: [2][email protected] > > To: [3][email protected] > > Subject: Re: [Phly-Rts] Marriage Certificate > > > > > > I called them and got the price for a "non certified" > > copy. 2. Vincent E. Summers
    3. Ah. Figures. Not the guy. I feel pretty certain of that, though I will note this. I could be wrong, and they could have split up with him remarrying. But I thought I might have explored that possibility and decided it was not possible... Thanks for checking for me! 2. Also checked the Inquirer and the only Frederick B. Smith [spelled that way] is on a list of men released from the draft 'on the ground of alienage' on Nov. 11, 1862. He was from York Co., PA. The Public Ledger has a mortuary notice for a child of Frederick [no B] and Amelia Smith who d. the Nov. 18. Liane ---- "Vincent E. Summers" <[email protected]> wrote: > Frederick B. 1. Re: [Phly-Rts] Newspaper Deaths?
    2. Vince, Frederick B Smith who enlisted 9-18-1861 in the 90th Pennsylvania Inf, Co. B applied for a pension in 1889 and then his widow applied in 1913 - she was Sarah A. He is also on the 1890 census of veterans and says he mustered out 9-16-1864. Could your Frederick have gone in a New York regt? The NY heavy artillery outfits took a lot of casualties early on in the war. Liane ---- "Vincent E. Summers" <[email protected]> wrote: > Frederick B. 3. For the church affiliation, try phoning Donna Miller (215-925-7788) at St. George's United Methodist Church in Philadelphia. They have a Museum of Methodism and have helpful info about the Methodist churches in the city. There was an Ashbury Street which name was changed to Randolph Street. I t runs Kater to South Street, west of 5th. Delancey Street exists today.
