    1. [Phly-Rts] Ann Porter Young & Sarah Young - census records
    2. Seeking information please from perhaps the 1840, 1850 or 1860 Philadelphia census for Ann Porter Young, probably born about 1900, emigrated from Ireland, married Josiah Edwards, had one son, Jeremiah Edwards. Ann's parents did not emigrate to America. Ann's date of emigration to America has not been found. Ann alone, or Ann and her husband, or the couple and their son, removed to Findley, Ohio, but when that move occurred is also not known. Ann's sister Sarah Young also emigrated from Ireland, date unknown. Sarah reportedly married a Gilfillan, date unknown, no known children. Ann and Sarah also had two brothers, Alexander Young (distiller) and Richard, both or whom remained in Philadelphia but the sisters Ann and Sarah are not known to have resided with their brothers. Richard married in Ireland (Dorcas Adair or Elizabeth ______) before their emigration to America; they had three daughters, Ann, Dorcas and Sarah. Records were found in the 1860 Philadelphia census for Richard, Richard's wife, Elizabeth, and daughters Ann and Dorcas, but nothing for Sarah Young who is said to have married Robert Rule and have left descendants. Sarah Young may have married Robert Rule before 1860. Thanks for any assistance.

    1. [Phly-Rts] Manuel of City Councils, Philadelphia
    2. Bill
    3. Here is a good site. It is a manuel of all the city councils for Philadelphia city for the calender year 1898-1899. It looks like as if that anybody that worked for the city of Philadelphia during this time is listed. It gives their names,Title, and saleries etc. It also lists the boundries for the wards and I think I saw districts mentioned. It also mentions fees for permits. In fact it was a $5 fine to open a fire hydrant without permission. Really an insight as to what was going on with the city Government at that time. I copied and pasted the site so it should work PS the one name that stood out was a John Stackhouse, maybe related to Gene?
