    3. You may be related to my wife then. All 4 of her grandparents were Jews from Eastern Europe. Her grandfather was Morris Phillips who was b 1877 in Kalverie Russia which I think is now in Latvia or Lithuania. He married Gizella Schwartz from Kosice which is now in Slovakia, but was in Hungary then. I don't know the route he came to the US, but he was naturalized in Detroit MI in 1896. The story my wife has is that he was the first of his siblings to leave Russia. They don't know why he started using the name Phillips, but he told his siblings and they used that name when they immigrated. My wife's brother has documents that have the original name written in Cyrillic. He lives in Lansing MI now. He doesn't know the exact location of the papers. He has become the repository of the family papers. He has 2 rooms of his house full of boxes of family information. We brought 6 of them with us when we visited last year. Mostly they were pictures.
