My grandmother's birth parents were Henry and Elizabeth (George) Phillips. Married 1886 by a Dutch Reformed minister in Brooklyn NY. Henry died 1891 in NYC. Elizabeth gave up 18-month-old daughter Rebecca (my grandmother) for adoption in 1891, but kept a son - possibly named George. Have adoption papers, but have found no marriage record, death certificate (for Henry, even though I have the exact date and address where he died), no birth certificate for my grandmother (either in original or adopted name), no cemetery records. Major brick wall. Does anyone have a family story that could fit this? Hoping grandma's biological brother made it to adulthood and had descendents.
