    1. [PHILLIPS] Re: Richard Ripley's misinformation about the Phillips family
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Phillips Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/nNABAIB/5840.3.1 Message Board Post: I exchanged some information with him about a year ago.. When I sent some corrections, we had some exchanges of e-mail but them it all stopped. I never heard from him. I'm sorry to hear that he has been discredited, as he seemed to truely want to piece the puzzle together, and obviously had some information I'd never seen on my Phillips lline in MA... It was a great service he provided for me in that way. He did connect me to my line from England and Wales and I verfied his reference by going to my local LDS Family center and ordering the Films he used in his references. I copied all relative info from the church records and found some of his info was not correct. But on the overall picture he did do me a great services by pointing me in thre right direction. I agree with the previous poster that I think as long as people see it for what it is, it does not provide any negative impact. I did noticed that before he updated his site this year, he reference most of his data to LDS parish registers which anyone could access through their local LDS Family Center and order the films and then copy any info on those films. ( Very inexpensive about $2.00 a film) Some of the handwritting is hard to decipher but that is the fun of this research project. Now his new update he is reference all the data to his CD which is very expensive. Now my challenge is to find out where he found the data to enter it on his CD. I agree that he has left the hobby part of this project and become very commercial. Every one is entitle to earn a living but I don't intend to spend over a $100. for a CD that I really don't know what is on it. I reserve my opinion of Richard Ripley until all the facts on in. My line goes back to Andrew Phillips of Charlestown, MA and thence back to Simon Phillips who was born in Llwyngwir, Pembroke, Wales, England. I have printed out all relevant church records and have then on file to verify my line. Walter E Phillips Florida
