From what I've heard William's father was Abe, from Scotland, and his mother was Nancy Barnes? from Ireland. There is someone I've been trying to figure out, I think he must be connected to the family but I don't know how. George H. Phillips born 1851/1852 and lived in Deerfield, MI at the time of the 1880 census. He was born in Canada and his wife's name was Mary Bullock. William, Charlotte and Peter are shown living in their household but the relationship is other. Hopefully this will get to you.
