His father was from North Carolina. Calvin was born there to in 1822 in Arkansas. He has an older brother name Charles Phillips, Born in 1809 in North Carolina. Now I did find out that there was a 1st Lt Charles Phillips in a Arkansas Regiment. Could this be the same Charles that is Calvin's brother? I certainly would like to know.
