SARAH ANN PHILLIPS, b. 1834, MS; d. Aft. 1880. > The above information is basically in conflict with information which I have gathered over the years from the Marion and Hinds Co., Miss. court houses and by contacting various family members. James Phillips, Jr. and Nancy, his wife, can be found on the Marion Co., Miss., 1816 territorial census where they came from S.C. Their son James Phillips became a judge in Marion, Miss. prior to 1820 where he served until he was elected to the Miss. State Legislature and then as Miss. State Treasurer. The ancestry of James Phillips, Jr. and his wife Nancy is unknown, but it is suspected that he may have been from Mass. Judge James Phillips married Sarah Collins as her second husband in Marion Co. Miss. Their family is shown on the chart below. Any additions or corrections will be appreciated.
