Ancestry.com shows Joel's wife as Louisa Sheffield [born January 6, 1829] and that the couple had four children: Julia [born January 30, 1855], Bethanea [born April 23, 1856], Jessie Calvin [born September 22, 1858], and Rainey Malindey [born September 24, 1860]. Louisa is listed on the 1880 Census as a widow living with Linda, Bethanea [married to a Thompson but her husband is not listed in the houshold], Jessie, Jessie's wife Lucinda [Lucy Woods] and two women with the surname Cole.
