Surnames: Phillips, Lawrence, McCurdy Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/nNABAIB/5675.1 Message Board Post: If it's the same John "U" Phillips as the one in our tree, he was born 1865, son of Samuel and Mary (Lawrence) Phillips. Samuel and Mary had 4 children: Mandy, Sarah, John and Joseph A. John is mentioned in Samuel's obituary in 1905. There's a John Phillips buried in Greenwood Cemetery. I have not checked to see if he's "our" John Phillips. Samuel's parents were James & Jane (McCurdy or McCurty) Phillips who moved to Muscatine in 1838, establishing a farm in Seventy-Six Twp. James & Jane were married in 1836 in Tippecanoe County, IN. They were both born in Ohio (1815 and 1817) but I haven't been able to determine where or to who.
