Hi, PHILLIPS cousins. My g-g-grandmother was Elizabeth (Lou?) PHILLIPS. She was born in SC circa 1810. She married an Irishman named Tom JORDAN. Their first child, Emaline, was born circa 1835 in NC. Shortly afterward, they were living in TN. They lived in Roane Co., Bledsoe Co and White Co. Elizabeth is listed in the census reports in TN, along with all the children. But Tom is never mentioned. He must have been alive, because Elizabeth had several children, AND my grandpa (born 1877) knew him. I do not know where in SC Elizabeth was born, but have been told there was a large colony of Irish PHILLIPS in or near Charleston, SC. I do not even know if my Elizabeth was Irish. If Elizabeth was Irish, perhaps Tom JORDAN, who came from Ireland, was a family friend. I don't know when or where Elizabeth married Tom JORDAN, or why they left SC. They seem to be headed to TN when they left SC because they did not stay in NC after Emaline was born in 1835. They may have been headed to East TN to meet up with Elizabeth's relatives already there. This is just a guess. I do know that they lived next door to some PHILLIPS. If anyone has any info on this Elizabeth PHILLIPS, I would truly appreciate it. Thanks in advance. Karlene
