    3. Bob, "Stumped" is a very operative word when doing genealogy research. I have accumulated a great deal of documentation some of which I specifically verified on a trip to Rhode Island last summer. Through this paper documentation I determined relationship back to the same Michael Phillips, Rhode Island. I also reviewed the groupings in the Phillips Worldwide DNA Project, including Group 11, and decided I was part of that group. I have been in touch through email with others associated with that Group, sharing our paper trails. I recently received the results of my 25 marker DNA test and "POW" what a shock. Not only am I not a part of Group 11, but I have no DNA matches in the Phillips DNA Project. My Haplogroup is I1a, which leads back to some Scandinavian ancestery. According to the Phillips DNA Project Assistant Administrator, my ancestors may have come from England and descended from the Vikings when they raided the area during the Dark Ages. Boy, that's pretty bizarre. My understanding is that Michael Phillips emigrated from Sussex England. Anyway, now there are some descrepancies on who descended from Michael Phillips. At this point I can't positively claim that I can prove my relationship to Michael Phillips any more than anybody else. I'm attempting to locate a distant cousin through my known line to do the DNA test to see how that matches with mine. So the search continues.
