Jones, This is Nancy Kiser, the Assistant Administrator of the Phillips Worldwide DNA Project. As you probably know, William Phillips married Esther Vickery 19 Dec 1829 in Guilford Co NC. Their daughter Lourkie Philips married John H. Osborne 7 Dec 1865 in Guilford Co NC. William appears on the 1850 census in Guilford Co NC and he told the census taker that he was born in Stokes Co NC. Some researchers believe William was the son of Richard and Julianna (Strub) Phillips of Stokes Co NC and that his birth date (28 May 1800) is recorded in the bible of Joseph Phillips of Surry Co NC. This may indicate that your William was the grandson of Joseph Phillips. I have collected a 14 page Word document on Richard and Julianna Strub) Phillips which I could email to you, if you are interested. Also, we now have FINALLY gotten some descendants of Joseph and Mary Phillips of Surry Co NC into the DNA project, and they are shown as Phillips Family Group 29 on the Phillips Worldwide website at this link: http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/p/phillips/pats.html If you have a male Phillips relative who would be willing to join the project and get his DNA tested, you could establish whether or not your Phillips line belongs to Phillips Family Group 29.
