    3. Hi, Ken, The problem is the public Phillips message board at rootsweb is "gatewayed" to this private Phillips mailing list. When someone posts an answer to a message posted on the public Phillips message board, it is automatically forwarded to the mailing list. It is very obvious on the public message board to whom and to what that person is referring. However, when the message gets forwarded to this mailing list, the link is no longer apparent. You have to follow the link back to the message board to figure out to whom or to what that person was responding. One solution would be to disconnect this private mailing list from the pubic message board. Cal Phillips, the administrator of this mailing list, periodically asks us whether we want to remain gatewayed to the public message board, and most people usually respond in the affirmative. I personally find it helpful, but it is not essential. Perhaps Cal should once again ask the members of the mailing list whether or not they want to remain gatewayed to the public message board. By the way, even though every message posted on the public message board gets sent to this mailing list, our messages on this message board do NOT get sent to the public message board. In other words, the gateway only works in one direction. I hope this explanation makes sense. Sincerely, Nancy Kiser Assistant Administrator Phillips Worldwide DNA Project "Kendell W. In that time, I have received way too many posts that give no clue to the reader what the author is referring to, or to whom the author is sending the message to! It's really maddening to receive a message board e-mail, read it, then have no idea who they were talking to, or have any idea what subject matter they were addressing! Is there any way to include the senders info, such as, "This is in reply to the message posted by Joe Don Somebody, in regard to a message about so and so."???? I am getting so tired of receiving messages that I have no clue what or to whom they are talking to, that I am about ready to unsubscribe from this very valuable list!!! Please, anyone, can we do something to fix this??? Ken Phillips Cave Junction, OR --------------------------------- Looking for last minute shopping deals? Find them fast with Yahoo! Search.

    2. Hi, Nancy. Thanks for explaining this again. Like Ken, it used to drive me nuts because I thought the people sending the "useless" messages were rude for not stating names, dates, etc. But once you explained it to me, it suddenly didn't bother me anymore. I would rather keep getting these messages than to stop and possibly miss that one contact who has the info I need! Thanks for all you do for us, Nancy. I can't express enough how much your work has helped me with my Phillips ancestors.
